NEW PRODUCTS: SELF CLOSING GATES

T&I Solutions has long been a supporter or ensuring that all access equipment supplied is safe, simple and designed, manufactured and installed to the latest British Standards. Currently the British Standard for Fixed Vertical Ladders (or CAT Ladders) is BS4211:2005 INCLUDING Amendment A1 2008. In order to assist in full compliance T&I Solutions have developed a self-closing gate that ensures full compliance and is cost effective. Wherever a vertical ladder breaks into any new or existing handrail it must be fitted with a self-closing gate. T&I Solutions self-closing gate can be fitted to any of our walkthrough ReadyMade ladder systems and can often be fitted to any existing ladder.

CASE STUDY

T&I Solutions have recently installed a self-closing gate to a new ladder installed for one of our clients in London. The installation involved the design, manufacture and installation of a new ladder to be integrated into the existing structure of a mezzanine floor and handrail installation.

In recent weeks T&I Solutions have completed a number of significant and exciting projects including a number of new designs/products.

MOUNT CARMEL CARE CENTRE

Challenged with creating safe access within a smoke vent,T&I Solutions designed, manufactured and installed a bespoke open mesh platform complete with trapdoor. This ensured safe access to the roof lights while ensuring the operative was safe at all times. Supplied in partnership with Palco UK and installed for Radleigh Construction, T&I Solutions are proud to have completed the project on time and within budget ensuring satisfaction for all concerned.

ISG: JAMES PAGET HOSPITAL

In addition to ladders and access systems, T&I Solutions are proud to continue our partnership with Kee Safety in the design and installation of a number of fall arrest systems. This included the supply of a new system to the James Paget Hospital directly through the main contractors ISG Plc. With cost and aesthetic appeal of great importance to the end client T&I Solutions designed a cost effective solutions and, working closely with the roofing contractors, ensured total weatherproofing.

All PPE was supplied by our partners Anglo Access and we believe that projects such as this will enhance the reputation of T&I Solutions and all our partners ensuring that we can work together to give any client in any industry the products and the total solutions they require.

ROOF SAFETY CONTRACTS

TRAMLINK: CROYDON TRAM DEPOT

T&I Solutions are proud to announce the award of the contract for improvement works to the Croydon Tram Depot maintenance gantries. T&I Solutions will be providing the installation expertise and equipment for the first stage of modifications to the raised tram access gantries. This stage of the works will include to modifications of the safety handrails together with making good of these works. All site activities must be carried out to the highest standards with regards to both work and health and safety documentation. This is stage one of a four stage program that may involve future works raising the entire gentry level. We hope this will lead to a long a productive relationship.

MILLER HOMES: MULBERRY SCHOOL FOR GIRLS

T&I Solutions have been awarded the contract for the supply, installation and training of the fall arrest system and PPE to the new building of the Mulberry School for girls. We will be undertaking these works with our new partners, Miller Homes who are the latest company to commit our fully inclusive programme of design, supply, installation, commissioning and training. Projects such as this demonstrate T&I Solutions as a leading company for a complete works at height solution.

CAT LADDER, SHIPS LADDER, COMPANIONWAY LADDER OR VERTICAL LADDER…

Vertical or Cat Ladder

At T&I Solutions we are well aware that all these phrases and names are used to describe essentially two different things, a fixed ladder parallel to the wall with round or square rungs and an inclined ladder with angled treads. Both ladders are defined in BS4211:2005 + A1 2008 and have a number of practical as well as aesthetic differences.

Cat Ladder or Vertical Ladder

This is a traditional ladder fitted with rungs and normally hoops when the climb height is over 3m and there is no limit to the heights that can be achieved when intermediate rest platforms are included. The ladder will be vertical or at most inclined at 75 degrees and when they include a walkthrough must be fitted with a fullheight self-closing gate.

Ships or Companionway Ladder

Ships Ladder or Companionway Ladder

A ships or companionway ladder has two main differences from a traditional vertical or cat ladder, firstly they are inclined (between 65 and 75 degrees) and they SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR A CLIMB HEIGHT OVER 3M. It is a common misconception tools and equipment can be carried up any inclined ships or companionway ladder, this is not true. Where any goods or equipment are to be regularly carried up, a full staircase should be fitted.
